We (Jackson) Are The Champions!!

When he came home from winning his first T Ball game we blasted him with Queens "We are The Champions"!!  I'm so disappointed he'll mis 2 games while we're in Disney!!

Jackson's first "hit" in his very first B-Ball Game!

Busy Busy Kids...Happy Mommy :)

This was a busy but FUN day!! This was fairly early in the morning!  John was looking like he needed to play so I put him in this old diaper box and we all took turns sliding him up and down the hallway!

He had a blast!  We can add this too the list of fun things to all do with Johnny :)

Later that afternoon Poppy took John to the park so we decided to do some messy sensory play.
I got shaving cream, whipped cream an old car track toy, some cars and johns car raceway.....
and let the "messy" fun begin!
Jack and Ava loved this!  They were actually pretending it was snow which of course had them asking about christmas....and then toys!!

 Busy Busy....
there was of course lots of tasting.  Although, Jackson mistook the shaving cream for whipped cream a couple of times and went running for water!!
Jackson was happy to be apart of the fun...He's usually at school!

 Joe just LOVED being Messy!!
When John got home I set up 2 water buckets one just for him and a larger one for the other kids...I was surprised and happy as to how much he loved it and played with everyone!
Joe had fun....Joe ALWAYS has fun!
He's really watching to see what sinks and what floats!
Buzz Lightyear went for a swim!
His bud (yes they're buds now) played so nicely with him :)
 Getting wet, wet wet!!

 Having so much fun! :)
Everyone was there and had a lot of fun together!  We will definitely be doing this at least once a week!

Jackson #3

Jackson has officially started his baseball journey and we're all very excited about it!!  He has his first game today...April 22nd 2012
Jackson is #3!  Jeff informed me that Babe Ruth was #3 and was very happy Jackson got this number.  I think Jack thought we were talking about the "baby ruth" candy bar!!  I always joked that Jackson has baseball running through his veins from BOTH sides of the family! I was really hoping he liked it! Well, he doesn't like it....He LOVES it!! Look for many more posts to follow.....Maybe even a pro baseball post in years to come.....Getting ahead of myself, I know!

John, sensory processing disorder

Johnny was recently diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder! In my last post I included a video which I thought explained in short what spd was. I still have a lot of questions myself! He started with a speech pathologist about a month ago for speech delay and as we were working (trying to, that is) she noticed that he couldn't focus because he constantly "needed" to move! So, she had an occupational therapist come in to evaluate him and sure enough she diagnosed him with this disorder. As far as the video, John is definitely a "seeker"! He does best when at the park spinning and swinging. He will spend hours in the swing if you let him! He doesn't much care for food but feels the need to chew vigorously! Even while watching tv, he has to pace back and forth. He gets very overwhelmed when around a lot of people (like a Solberg family party)! It's too much for him all at once and then people are in his face trying to get him to play! The therapist said he'd like to first get out of the situation immediately but since he can't he usually screams in their face as if to say "Please, BACK OFF"!!

I feel very blessed to have found amazing therapists! The OT that is going to work with him is the best in the western suburbs and specializes in this disorder! They also told me he's lucky that he's in that 10% that only has sensory issues. As they said in the video, 80% of kids who have this are also diagnosed with some other disorder (Autism, aspergers etc..) They assured me he was way to "social of a guy" to be Autistic. In some of my research and talking with the therapists, it seems most kids with spd grow up to have ADD? The good news is we caught this very early and he should hopefully be caught up to his peers by kindergarten (that is the goal)! He'll be ok, I'll make sure of it and he now has a special angel looking over him! I know she'll make sure he's ok too! She's probably in heaven worrying about him right now :)

What do we do while Jackson's at school, you ask?....

Tea Parties! Sometimes we dress up and sometimes not!
If mommy's feeling extra patient we have real water and food
Pouring tea for Ava
Princess Ava is usually "in charge" of what goes on at the Tea Party! Are you surprised?
This is right before they started yelling and fighting...Sisters!
We do sensory bins (more often these days)..Messy but they love it!
I set up one bin w/water, spoons and cups to play...Another with rice so they can dig in with their hands or feet and just "feel". I also set up straws and lots of cups to explore with...they didn't want to stop! I was cleaning up rice for 2 days!
We of course act silly! Hands down, Joe takes this prize!! He's a ham!
Ava's favorite thing lately is to play "Dr Ava"! She's loving this new show on the Disney channel called Doc McStuffins who loves and treats all of her stuffed animals! So, I set up a "Doctors office" for her :)
The waiting room!
Johnny mostly just observed but Joe got right in there and soon became Doc Ava's assistant!
Next patient please! Nurse Joe went to the waiting room to get the next patient!
Dr Ava measured and took their temperatures! Some unlucky patients even got shots!
She's helping Joe measure "Pinky Pie, who came in with a broken toe and a bug in her tummy!
Alexa became a patient! Ava put a band aide on her and made sure there were no bugs in her ears!
Laloopsy came in with skinned knees (she fell off her bike) and immediately recieved band aides!!
Nurse Joe became a patient when she was all out of other "patients"!! He was very patient and I'm happy to report his ears were bug free!!

Not everyday is FUN, not even close but I try in midst of all the chaos to have a little FUN!!

Happy 4th Birthday Ava!!

I'm baaaaack! I've recently received a new camera, new Mac computer and new photoshop! I'm still learning the Mac/photoshop which is why I haven't posted in awhile but I promise this first post will make you smile! I admit, while going through the pictures I had a smile from ear to ear.....ENJOY!!
We went to Sweet and Sassy in Oak Brook for Ava's bday with her cousins Julia and Zoe.
It's becoming a birthday tradition for the girls! Hopefully one that they'll remember forever!
Ava and Zoe. Zoe will be 5 in July and we'll (they'll) get to do it all over again!
Zoe getting her "rock n roll" updo!
Julia picked the "princess" makeover!
Perfect Pampered Princess!
The start of Ava's hair! I overheard her tell her stylist "she just wanted a braid"
and she got one.....

here comes the glitter spray!
She didn't stop smiling! I wonder if her face hurt when we got home?!
Pedicures...
A sparkly ring to go on your toe! Why not?!
I'm thinking I need a spa day soon.....
